August is Here...and We Have SO Much to Celebrate!

As another busy month begins, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what an incredible SummerFest weekend we shared together. It was really so gratifying to see our neighbors and friends come out to celebrate summer- From the 5K Race, to the Parade, Car Show, Vendors, Music, and everything in between, it was an awesome, spectacular day.

Our Stars, Stripes & Strides 5K brought runners, walkers, families, and neighbors together for a wonderful morning of fun, fitness, and community spirit.

Most importantly, we’d like to give an earnest thank you to the many volunteers who made the event possible. From planning the race months in advance to setting up before sunrise, registering runners, directing traffic, serving refreshments, cheering participants on, cleaning up afterward, and handling countless behind-the-scenes details—your generosity made all the difference. We are continually amazed by the willingness of people in our community to step forward and lend a hand.

If you participated in the race, volunteered, sponsored the event (THANK YOU EDWARD JONES AND SOUTHERN TIER NETWORK!), or simply came out to cheer everyone on, thank you for helping make it a success!

Fall Is Just Around the Corner

As much as we’re enjoying summer, we’re already hard at work preparing for some of our favorite events of the year—and we’ll need plenty of helping hands!

  •  Murder Mystery Dinner – September 12 at 6 PM

Step back to 1920's for one last unforgettable night at The Dimmick Back Room; Tickets available Now at: https://www.newarkvalleycc.com/events-1/murder-mystery-dinner-1-1

  •  Haunted Halls – October 23 & 24 from 6 PM to 8 PM; Actors and Volunteers Needed!

  •  Annual Organ Concert – November 1 with Guest Organist David Jackson

These events have become community favorites because of the incredible volunteers who give their time, creativity, and enthusiasm. Whether you enjoy decorating, greeting guests, serving food, acting, setting up, or simply pitching in wherever you’re needed, there’s a place for you on our team.

Even if you’ve never volunteered with us before, we’d love to welcome you. It’s a wonderful way to meet new people, have fun, and make a real difference in our community.

Community Happens Because of You

One of the things we love most about Newark Valley is how people show up for one another. Every lunch served, every class offered, every concert enjoyed, and every event celebrated is possible because neighbors care enough to get involved.

Thank you for being part of Newark Valley Community Connection. Whether you attend an event, volunteer your time, make a donation, or simply help spread the word, you’re helping us build a stronger, more connected community.

We look forward to seeing you in August!

With gratitude,

The Newark Valley Community Connection Board of Directors
