Gratitude, Community, and What's Coming Next

As Thanksgiving approaches, Newark Valley Community Connection would like to take a moment to recognize the collective generosity that powers our work across all of Northern Tioga and surrounding areas. We began this adventure a little over two years ago, and what started as an idea to create more connection in our rural region has grown into a welcoming community hub built on volunteer and donor support and a shared belief in what's possible.
In that time, more than 100 supporters this past year alone-individuals, foundations, local businesses, volunteers, and community partners-have helped us repair and keep our buildings open, spark new programs, host meaningful events, and plan improvements that will serve our area for years to come.
Every contribution — the ones we can measure, the ones quietly given, the ones shared as time, baked goods, ideas, staffing an event, fixing a furnace, hanging lights, or cheering us on from the sidelines — has shaped who we are. And because we never want to risk missing even one person, today we extend our gratitude collectively to all who support this mission.
We also want to extend our profound appreciation to everyone who stepped up during this year's flooding-to those who contributed funds, loaned equipment, cleanup hours, debris clearing, neighbor check-ins, the awesome community fundraiser and the many small acts that made recovery possible. The impact of those days continues to be felt. Thank you for helping neighbors when it was needed most!
This Thanksgiving season, Newark Valley Community Connection wants to share a simple truth: We are so grateful for all of you!
A special thank you to our foundation supporters, including the Floyd Hooker Foundation, Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation, Tioga Senior Citizens Foundation, NBT Bank, Tioga Downs Regional Community Foundation and of course, the many, many individuals whose generosity inspires us every day.
Looking Ahead to Our Five Year Vision- Because of You, We Can Dream Big
Your support has created momentum behind our long term plan to rehabilitate our buildings and strengthen our role as a regional catalyst, where connection becomes the infrastructure for a community to believe in itself, driving opportunity, growth and resilience.
Over the next five years we are focused on:
Enhancing and connecting our community building with lighting, heating, accessibility, and event-center improvements
Expanding programs for youth, adults, and families
Growing signature events that hopefully become community traditions
Developing 5-10 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails to strengthen and support local outdoor recreation, tourism and environmental resilience
And building a stronger base of volunteer leadership to carry this work forward and sustain the future of NVCC
