This weekend’s activities at Newark Valley Community Connection are a great reminder that community is built by volunteers.

One of those volunteers is Nick Cromer, one of our board members and an avid mountain biker. Nick has spent countless hours helping with building improvements, community projects, and leading our Trails Committee as we work to expand and improve local hiking and bicycling trail opportunities.

If you’d like to help, join us for our Trail Work Session on Saturday at 9:00 AM. We’ll meet behind Newark Valley Middle School and spend the morning working on the trails. Whether you’re an experienced trail builder or just willing to lend a hand, we’d love to have you join us. Work gloves, loppers, bug spray and rakes will be useful. Nick says you will get bonus points for bringing a leaf blower!

We also have other opportunities to connect this weekend:

Another dedicated volunteer is Marsha Sierra, a board member who leads many of our creative workshops. Marsha brings an impressive background in fine arts and metalsmithing, including experience as a master jeweler with Tiffany & Co. Her jewelry workshop this Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to learn new skills and create something beautiful. Sunday at 3:00 PM – Jewelry Workshop A few spots are still available for an afternoon of creativity and fun. Link to register: https://www.newarkvalleycc.com/events-1/hooplala-jewelry-workshop

Monday Lunch-Enjoy sausage & peppers, pasta salad, and fellowship. We’re also pleased to welcome Sr. Mary, who will share information about the important work of Tioga County Rural Ministry and the ways they support our neighbors throughout the county.

Thank you to Nick, Marsha and all of our volunteers, instructors, donors, and participants who make these programs possible. Every trail improved, every workshop taught, every meal shared helps strengthen our community and create connections throughout Northern Tioga and beyond.
