Holiday Magic in Newark Valley: A Winter Wonderland to Remember

This past Saturday, Newark Valley came alive with true small town magic as families packed into our little town to watch the Tree Lighting on the Green, check out the Gingerbread House Contest, visit Santa, taste some delicious soups, ride the hay wagon, and visit Newark Valley Community Connection for the annual Holiday Magic Winter Wonderland celebration. A big shoutout to Annie's Place, Village Wine & Spirits, Buff Daisy Fitness, and Lambert's Attic for joining in the fun with their special Holiday Magic offerings-thank you for adding even more sparkle to the day!

At NVCC, local select crafters filled the craft fair with handmade gifts, holiday décor, treats, and one-of-a-kind treasures. Our Winter Wonderland snow dig and snow toss were a huge hit—especially with surprise visits from Elsa, Olaf, and Frosty throughout the afternoon. Kids and adults alike spent time moving between the craft station, and cake walks while enjoying coffee, warm hot cocoa and our comfort-food lunch menu of mac & cheese, pizza, chili, and hot dogs.
Raffle baskets both at Community Connection and the Village Noble Room had people excited all day, including NVCC's “Big Diamond raffle,” which sparkled just as much as the holiday lights. And at 3 PM, the magic and laughter grew even louder as our cake walk games kicked off—another instant favorite with kids and adults alike.

Across the village, the fun kept going with the 5 PM Tree Lighting on the Village Green, where the Grinch and Santa made their big appearances and greeted excited children. The annual gingerbread contest in the Village Meeting Room added even more charm and creativity to an already magical day in Newark Valley.
Events like Holiday Magic are made possible by the generosity of our neighbors who started this tradition, volunteers, donors, local partners like the Newark Valley Historical Society, Northern Tioga Chamber of Commerce, Village of Newark Valley crews, and the community members who show up again and again.

If you’d like to help us continue creating these and more traditions—and keep this small town magic going strong—please consider supporting NVCC with a year-end financial gift. Every donation, large or small, directly supports our programs, events, and the upkeep of our historic buildings, and is so appreciated!
You can donate at newarkvalleycc.com.
Thank you to the volunteers and everyone who came out and celebrated with us. Newark Valley truly shines this time of year, and we’re grateful to share the season with all of you. Stay tuned for a memorable 2026!
