Mystery Solved, Dancing Tonight, and Spring Around the Corner

The Murder Was Solved… But the Fun at Newark Valley Community Connection Is Just Getting Started-Music, dancing, Tuesday yoga, spring craft market, jewelry creation, and community support at Newark Valley Community Connection

Our Murder Mystery Crew
Our Murder Mystery Crew

It’s been an exciting time at Newark Valley Community Connection, with laughter, music, great food, and neighbors coming together to enjoy something a little different. From a lively murder mystery dinner to line dancing lessons and preparations for our upcoming spring market, there is a lot happening—and we’re grateful to everyone who helps make these community moments possible.

A Night of Mystery and Laughter

Last week we hosted an unforgettable Murder Mystery Dinner, and it was a fantastic evening filled with suspense, storytelling, and plenty of laughs. Guests worked together to examine clues, question suspects, (and even sing with suspect "Nicky Diamond") and see who could solve the mystery—all while enjoying a delicious meal.

Events like this remind us how special it is when a community gathers together around the table, shares an experience, and leaves with new memories. Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and helped bring the evening to life. It's safe to say everyone from the cast to the guests, to the cooks and kitchen volunteers all had a blast!

Line Dancing Tonight (and Every Other Thursday!)

The fun continues tonight, March 5th, with our line dance lessons, happening every other Thursday. These evenings are energetic, welcoming, and beginner-friendly, making them a great opportunity to try something new while meeting friends and enjoying great music. The dance floor is big and there is no partner needed!

Whether you’ve never tried line dancing before or you already love it, there’s plenty of room and a welcoming instructor ready to dance.

Of course, don't forget about our regular Tuesday morning yoga and tea with LindseyKerani. Our pilot program was a great success, so we will continue to offer these classes for our community every week.

Our Monday Lunch for March will feature Chicken and Biscuits along with a guest speaker. Eileen Peet from the Southern Tier Network will be presenting information about this nonprofit. Based in Corning, this local nonprofit builds and maintains the fiber itself, creating a strong foundation that internet service providers can use to deliver service to homes and businesses across the Southern Tier.

Looking forward to April, we will be serving pulled pork along with Macaroni and Cheese, and be featuring a special musical guest!

Spring Market & Easter Celebration – March 28

We’re also looking forward to our upcoming Spring Market & Easter Celebration on March 28. This festive event will feature local vendors, handmade goods, and a welcoming atmosphere for families and visitors.

Guests can enjoy a chocolate tasting, a treasure hunt for little children, and a craft station for kids, along with a delicious lunch featuring pierogi and kielbasa.

We are currently finalizing our vendor lineup and have space for a few additional vendors offering handmade items, crafts, specialty foods, or unique products. Vendors interested in joining this fun community event are encouraged to reach out soon for more information.

On March 22nd, we will have another of our popular Sterling Silver workshops. Ready to feel seriously accomplished? Join us for a hands-on jewelry making workshop where you will forge, shape, and finish a pair of “uniquely yours” sterling silver earrings from start to finish.

In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn the basics of forging and forming metal and use jeweler's tools. A skilled jewelry maker will guide you through the entire process—no prior experience needed.

Thank You to Our Supporters!

Community programs like these are possible because of the generosity of those who believe in the power of bringing people together.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the employees of Visions Federal Credit Union for their thoughtful Denim Days donation. Their support helps us continue offering programs, events, and activities that strengthen our community.

We also want to say that we are so grateful to the Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation for their generous grant award to Newark Valley Community Connection.

This funding will help us make important repairs and improvements to our facility, including work on our kitchen steps, doorway, deck, and chimney. These upgrades will begin in late spring or early summer and are an exciting step forward for our organization.

Not only will these repairs improve the safety and accessibility of our space, they also move us closer to our long-term goal of creating smooth, connected access between our two buildings. Each improvement helps us better serve our community and welcome people of all ages and abilities.

We are deeply thankful to the Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation for believing in our mission and investing in a stronger, more accessible community space for everyone.

Supporting Community Connections

Programs such as community dinners, classes, markets, and family events are made possible through the partnership of local foundations, businesses, and individual supporters. Their generosity allows Newark Valley Community Connection to continue providing welcoming spaces and meaningful activities for people of all ages across northern Tioga and the surrounding communities. Businesses interested in supporting community programming through sponsorship are always appreciated and help make these experiences possible. We’re grateful for businesses that want to invest in the well-being and vitality of our community.

We do offer annual individual, business and corporate recognition opportunities that acknowledge community support. These are structured as charitable contributions with donor recognition rather than advertising. For organizations interested in a deeper, long-term investment, we also offer $5,000+ Community Builder or Legacy Partner opportunities, which may include recognition connected to capital projects or facility improvements.

We’d be happy to discuss what type of partnership aligns best with your interests while supporting our mission and remaining compliant with nonprofit guidelines

If your organization would like to sponsor programs or participate as a vendor at future events, we would love to connect. Please call 607-308-1503 for more information.
