There’s a lot happening at Newark Valley Community Connection—and we’re excited!! We are planning for our buildings to become even more welcoming, useful places for our community.

Building for the Future

If you happen to drive or walk by our buildings, you will be seeing some exciting improvements. New doors are being installed, we’ve added a new concrete landing, and our blacktop work scheduled for late September (weather permitting) will be improving the grounds and making access to our facilities easier and safer.

Inside, we’ve also continued the renovation of our lower-level youth space. Our goal is to create a welcoming area where young people and families can gather, connect, and enjoy activities together. We plan to collaborate with more organizations to offer more programs for you.

These improvements are about more than construction. We’re investing in the spaces because we believe in our community and what happens inside them.

Looking at the Big Picture

We recently had an architectural review of our buildings and property to help us think about what NVCC could become in the years ahead. The review gave us an opportunity to look at the two buildings together and explore ways to make the entrances, accessibility, connection between the buildings, and outdoor spaces more welcoming and functional.

It’s exciting to have a vision for the future—and just as exciting to see that vision beginning to take shape, one project at a time.

And There’s Plenty Happening Inside!

Even as improvements are underway, our calendar is full of opportunities to gather.

Murder Mystery — Our recent murder mystery brought people together for an evening of fun, laughter, clues and a little suspicion! Thank you to everyone who participated and to the volunteers who made it possible.

Monday Lunch today Sept 14 at 11:30 am— Join us for our upcoming Monday Lunch. Jennifer will be speaking about how to keep safe from scammers. Good food is only part of it—the conversation and companionship around the table are what make these lunches special. Don’t want lunch? – just come for a cup of coffee. We have free Wi-Fi available for use.

Tuesday Yoga — Start your Tuesday with movement and mindfulness during our live-streamed yoga with Lindsey at 10:15 am.

Wednesday Book Club — Come share a good book, good conversation and new perspectives with fellow readers.

Thursday Line Dancing — Get out on the dance floor! Our line dancing lessons are a fun way to get moving, meet people and enjoy an evening together. 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Every Event Helps Keep Our Doors Open

When you attend an NVCC event, you’re doing more than enjoying a meal, learning a new dance or spending an evening with friends.

Every ticket helps keep our doors open.

Your support helps NVCC maintain, heat, insure, and operate our community buildings—and keeps them available for programs, gatherings, and events for everyone. Our operating budget includes $11,000 just for Insurance and you can only guess what our heating oil bills will be! Yikes!

That’s why we’re working on the buildings.

That’s why we keep creating programs.

And that’s why your participation matters.

We’re building the spaces. You’re helping fill them with community.
