We're Not Waiting for Spring!

I'm loving the warmer weather we have experienced the last couple of days. But I feel like Mother Nature enjoys teasing us. I love where we live, but February (and March...and April...and May) can be long and cold. That's why we all put our heart and soul into creating warmth here at Newark Valley Community Connection. And things are definitely heating up here.
One of my favorite things about NVCC is that you never quite know what’s going to happen next. One night we’re solving a crime. The next we’re dancing. The next we’re stitching side by side and sharing stories.
That’s part of our small-town magic. And we are grateful for all of our volunteers, supporters and donors who help make the magic happen.

👢 Line Dancing Lessons – This Thursday, February 19th at 6:30 PM and Twice a Month on Thursdays
Every other Thursday, the hall comes alive with music, and a lot of counting to eight.
Our line dancing nights are fun and good exercise, too! You don’t need to know the steps. You don’t need a partner. You just need to show up and try a lesson or two.
There’s something about moving together — especially in the middle of winter. It’s good for the body, and honestly, it’s just as good for the spirit.
🔪 Murder, Mystery & Dinner – February 28, 4:00 PM

On February 28, our hall transforms into a full-blown whodunit for our Murder Mystery Dinner — and yes, the audience helps solve the crime.
It’s dinner. It’s theater. It’s laughter. It’s suspense. The setting is the 1970's. The plot revolves around a wealthy matriarch and her will. The characters are all a possible murderer!
We could use one more actress to round out the cast. If you’ve ever secretly wanted to be dramatic (or dramatically suspicious), this might be your moment. No Broadway experience required — just a willingness to have fun.
If you’d like to attend or step into a role, reach out soon. The night is filling up fast and last year we were sold out. To purchase tickets, click on this link: https://www.newarkvalleycc.com/events-1/murder-mystery-dinner-2
🧵 Stitch Niche – February 28th, 10:30 AM and Every Other Saturday
Our newest addition is already feeling like an old tradition.
Stitch Niche meets every other Saturday and is exactly what it sounds like — bring your sewing, or creative project, learn about techniques, care of machines and more… and see your neighbors.
No pressure. No perfection. Just hands busy and conversation flowing.
If you’ve been meaning to get back into sewing, this might be your nudge. This group is open to any and all who would like to join us!

🌷 Looking Ahead: Easter Basket Spring Gift Market & Craft Fair – March 28
Winter won’t last forever — and our Spring Craft Fair on March 28 is proof.
We’re inviting vendors, makers, and small creative businesses to join us. If you know someone who creates beautiful things, tell them to reach out. Here is the registration link for vendors: https://www.newarkvalleycc.com/events-1/vendor-info-for-easter-basket-and-spring-gift-market-fair-at-newark-valley-community-connections-1
These fairs aren’t just about shopping — they’re about supporting local talent and keeping creativity alive right here in northern Tioga. Along with gifts and crafts we will have a Chocolate Tasting Station, Pierogi Lunch, and a Treasure Hunt and "Make and Take" station for children.

Tuesdays: Gentle Yoga and Tea
Don't forget about our Tuesday Gentle Yoga and Tea. Yoga starts at 10:15 AM and is a Zoom Live Stream with experienced yoga and fitness instructor, Lindsey Kerani.
Sometimes people ask what we do at Newark Valley Community Connection. We host lunches...We host Book Club...We make jewelry...We paint...We host movies....We host dinners....We dance.....We stitch....We gather.....We try new things....We laugh....We show up!
That might not sound revolutionary — but in a world where it’s easier than ever to stay home and scroll, showing up together feels quietly important.
If something here catches your interest, come. If you’re nervous, come anyway. If you’ve been meaning to get involved, this is your sign.
And if you’ve ever thought, “I wish our town had more of ______,” PLEASE, tell us.
A special note to parents-if there is a youth or children's activity you would like us to offer, PLEASE reach out and let us know. Our hope is to provide an indoor play space during winter months, and also provide the occasional movie, but we need to your input.
We’re building this together. Thank you!
